Caribbean Cruise Travel Still Not Affected By Oil Spill - August 5, 2010

The major cruise lines report no changes in schedules.

GOOD NEWS! No oil can be found in the ocean.
It has apparently been cleaned up, evaporated, dispersed and absorbed by nature.

Important Notice Regarding New TSA Flight Requirements
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that it will require full name (as it appears on their government issued ID), date of birth and gender for all passengers traveling on or after November 1, 2010 regardless of when the reservation was booked. Failure to provide this information could result in a reservation being refused by the airline.

Do you have a passport?

We strongly recommend you get one prior to cruising or for any travel outside the USA.

Other documentation such as a certified original birth certificate AND a valid driver's license
can be used as well.
Check with http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738_2.html for the latest information
to get a passport.
Also go to http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/ready_set_go/sea_travel/doc_req_lp.xml  for the latest
information about cruise passenger travel.
Briefly,

Document Requirements: Cruise Ship Passengers: U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end
at the same U.S. port) will be able to enter or depart the country with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID.
Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the countries your cruise ship is visiting.
Check with your cruise line to ensure you have the appropriate documents.

If you don't have a US Passport

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION!

New travel requirements for U.S. Citizens
going into effect on June 1, 2009:

While the new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)
requires valid passports for land and sea travel, a final ruling
was issued allowing leniency for “closed-loop”cruises, i.e., sailings
that both originate and terminate in the same U.S.port.

U.S. citizens taking “closed-loop” cruises are not required to
have a passport but will need proof of citizenship and a
government-issued photo ID, such as an original or certified
copy of a birth certificate and a driver’s license.  Children will also
be required to carry a birth certificate and a photo ID if
over the age of 15.

Although a passport is not required for“closed loop” cruises,
we strongly recommend all guests travel with a passport (valid for
at least six months beyond completion of travel), a passport card
or an enhanced driver’s license (EDL). Having these documents will
enable them to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port in the event they
miss their scheduled embarkation or to fly back to the U.S. if they
need to disembark the ship mid-cruise due to an emergency.

If a cruise begins and ends in different U.S.ports or begins and
ends in a foreign port, a valid passport or other recognized
WHTI-compliant document is required. A valid passport is required
if you are traveling on any of our Europe cruises.
